It was such a privilege to attend the Captain Planet gala and meet Sir Richard Branson this weekend. Read more about my night here, on my blog for the Verizon 4G for Hunger campaign. You can also vote for me and my charity, CCYA, here

This year, I am honored to participate in Verizon’s #4G4Hunger program for my charity, the Center for Children and Young Adults (CCYA). CCYA has helped homeless and at risk children in the Atlanta area since 1981. It provides shelter, food, as well as other necessary services.

I would love to have your vote to win $4G for CCYA. Your vote also enters you in for a chance to win a Droid Razr M by Motorola. Vote herehttp://verizon.modernluxury.com/vote-atlanta/

Thank you for your support!

Home sweet home! Hello from St. Lucia!

I had so much fun at the Atlanta Caribbean Jerk Festival.

I’ll definitely be going back next year.

St. Croix Food & Wine Experience Update

First, I won the Food Fight!

At that point, even if nothing else had happened, I would have gone home a happy camper. But it just keeps getting better. Between stargazing at some of my favorite chefs, eating mouth watering local fare, and hanging with some of the coolest foodies both local and from abroad, this has to be the best food event I have gone to thus far and it’s still not over.

After years of coming to this event as a spectator, this year I am thrilled to be one of the participating chefs for the St. Croix Food and Wine Experience. Although there are numerous other food festivals all over the Caribbean, this one was named one of the Ten Best International Food and Wine Festivals by Forbes Travel. I grew up here so being able to participate in this event has a special meaning and also brings out my competitive side. The event I am most looking forward to participating in is the Food Fight, which involves a series of wacky challenges, including shucking a live conch and breaking open a coconut! I feel pretty confident that this competition is mine to win and will be mortified if I don’t at least win the Fastest to Break Open a Coconut Challenge. I am also looking forward to sampling foods from some of my favorite chefs in the country. Coming in on the packed flight from Miami, I could feel a very festive and lively energy in the air and I have high hopes that this year will be one of the best years yet. Of course that may change in my book if I lose the Food Fight, but for now I am thrilled and excited to be here.
